1. Creating a quiz template that can be quickly updated at the start of a new school year. You may need to first set up a google docs account.

Click here and choose the appropriate template depending on if you will require users to login with a Google account or not.

3. Select “use this template”

4. Click “see responses” and then choose “spreadsheet”.

5. In the assessment menu that loads at the top (right of the "Help" menu), choose "Create new class list".

6. In the "AllClasses" tab of the spreadsheet you will be able to follow a link to edit your connected class list. Each new school year you will edit below the class titles your class list (last name, first name). (or access it in your documents list).

Keep these things in mind when entering your student lists:
*I recommend using only last names in your class list unless multiple students have the same last name. In that case use as little of the first name as possible to make it unique from other classmates e.g. for Patrick Anderson enter "Anderson" if no other Anderson's, "Anderson, P" if no other P. Andersons, etc. This allows students to use nicknames and not be missed by the score tally search. *This will be the only file you will need to change each year once your quizzes are made. There seems to be an issue with Google recognizing text pasted in from a grade program export. If you are having this issue you could try doing a "paste values" option or you may have to type them in manually--you'll know you're having this issue if student scores are not showing up in the AllClasses tab when they've submitted a test.

7. Rename the file as “Assessment Template” (or something with ‘template’ in the title to remind you to make a copy each time).
*Each time you make a new quiz, open the template,  click on “file” then choose “make a copy” and name it more specifically. Close the template so you aren't tempted to make changes to it.
*You should never have to make any changes directly to the template file once you are finished setting it up the first time. Click here if you need instructions on setting up an assessment from your template.

*At the start of each new school year your past quizzes will not need to be changed, only your StudentLists file to be updated with your new class lists. You will need to delete past year student responses though if you will approach the 500 entry limit in the form. They can be deleted by opening the assessment, selecting the old entries in sheet 1, and pressing the delete key.

8. Setting up an assessment now that you’ve created a template (click here)
